Refurbishment

Redditch was once a centre for needle-making before becoming known for fishing tackle and motorcycles. It was designated as a town in 1964 and saw the population increase substantially. Originally built as a flagship’ town with new town planning methods, town has since moved on from its core industries to more modern businesses.

Redditch has been undergoing an economic resurgence since the refurbishment and redevelopment of the Kingfisher shopping centre, which houses such popular High Street brands as Boots, Debenhams, H&M, Nando’s, Waterstone’s and more.

Growth & Investment

Home to the headquarters of retailer Halfords and Engineering giant GKN, Redditch also functions as a dormitory town for the nearby Birmingham. Recent investment is helping build new housing for the area and supporting regeneration around Redditch Rail Station.

Boasting good transport links across the area, Redditch has a great deal of development potential. Places of interest include the remains of the Cistercian Bordesly Abbey, which was latterly used as a Royal Swannery, along with the Forge Hill Needle Museum, Morton Stanley Park and the Kingfisher shopping centre, which is the town’s primary retail area and continues to drive a lot of interest in Redditch.

Redditch boasts 900 acres of open public space in Arrow Valley Country Park, incorporating the Arrow Valley Lake and a local nature reserve, Proctor’s Barn Meadow. The park is home to the Arrow Valley Countryside centre and is also known for watersports, walking and cycling.

Redditch was home to the iconic Royal Enfield motorcycle. Its main factory was here, operating until the 1960s. Some of those original factory buildings remain, with some being used as part of an industrial estate and others ideal for redevelopment.
